KANEOHE (HawaiiNewsNow) - Honolulu police have opened an attempted murder investigation following an early morning shooting in Kaneohe that left a 32-year-old man wounded.
According to police, the incident happened at 12:30 a.m. Sunday. The victim was walking home when he was approached by five men in a pickup truck. One of the men approached the victim, but he did not want to fight. Police said the victim related that he heard what appeared to be fireworks, and then realized that he had been shot in the leg. Investigators said no gun was seen.
Both the victim and the suspects fled the area, police said. The victim called a family member, who then took him to the hospital for treatment.
The police department said the case has been passed on to the Major Crimes Detail for further investigation.
