HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A 50-year-old man was critically injured after a crash involving his motorcycle and a van on Vineyard Boulevard Saturday night, police said.
According to authorities, the collision happened in the westbound lanes about 38 feet east of Waipa Lane. Police said a Toyota van was traveling west on Vineyard in the middle lane and tried to pull to the right side of the roadway. The motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed in the right-most lane, and was sideswiped by the van.
The motorcycle operator taken to Queen's Medical center with head and internal injuries. A 35-year-old female passenger on the motorcycle sustained minor injuries. Neither was wearing a helmet, police said. The 27-year-old male driver of the van was wearing a seatbelt, and was not injured.
Investigators said the motorcycle's speed was a factor in the crash.
