Thousands expected to line up well before midnight for special Japanese blessing

NUUANU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Many hoping for good fortune in the New Year are expected to line up well before midnight Saturday for a special blessing.

Each year the Daijingu Temple of Hawaii in Nuuanu hosts a New Year's celebration.

At the stroke of midnight, a Shinto priest performs a blessing, and people can purchase amulets and charms for good luck.

The temple will open at midnight Saturday, and blessings will be given until 5:30 Sunday afternoon.

It is located at 61 Puiwa Road.

Parking is available in the temple parking lot, on the street, or at the Boy Scouts parking lot across the street.
