HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A man suspected in the deadly beating of a Kalihi resident nearly three years ago pleaded not guilty at his arraignment at Honolulu Circuit Court Tuesday.
An Oahu grand jury last week indicted Vito John Talo, 28, on a second-degree murder count. The defendant appeared before Circuit Judge Richard Perkins via video hook-up from the Oahu Community Correctional Center.
He's accused of savagely beating Damaso Domingo, 54. The victim was found unconscious near the intersection of Lanakila Avenue and North School Street on January 13, 2009.
Another defendant, Aitasi Legatasia, has already pleaded no contest to misdemeanor assault for his role. He was granted a deferral and is expected to testify against Talo.
Trial is tentatively set for February.
