Christmas thief caught & Maui murder investigation opens

A Christmas day thief is caught red-handed breaking in to the Leeward Drive-Inn in Waipahu. It turns out this isn't the first time this place has been hit in recent years. An expensive, but legal habit may be a factor in the crime. Minna Sugimoto will have the story at 5pm.

Also at 5pm: There's a big development in that brazen theft caught on camera at the Windward Mall. The toys stolen from Toys R Us have been found. But the suspects aren't in police custody…at least not yet.

Maui police have launched a murder investigation after the Christmas day discovery of a man's body at a beach.

New at 5:30: Investigators reveal what caused a fire that destroyed a Big Island family's home on Christmas day. We'll also have details on a local bottled water company that's expanding to new markets on the mainland.

See you on the news!
