Man critically injured in Sand Island crash

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A man was critically injured when his pickup truck rear-ended another vehicle Friday.

According to Honolulu Police, the crash happened shortly after 5:30 p.m. Investigators said a 42-year-old Waianae man was driving a pickup when it crashed into the back of a dump truck that was waiting to make a left turn from Auiki Street onto Sand Island Access Road.

The dump truck's driver was not hurt.

Police said the driver of the pickup truck may have had a previous medical condition. It was unknown whether speed or alcohol were factors in the collision.
