Cash donations stolen from Salvation Army Thrift Store

HILO (HawaiiNewsNow) - Big Island police are investigating a recent theft at the Salvation Army Thrift Store in Hilo.

According to officials, the incident happened Thursday night when cash donations inside two red kettles were stolen.

Although the donations were not counted for the day, the Salvation Army's store manager believes the suspect(s) got away with $50.

None of the store's valuable items including jewelry or koa wood piece were taken, however, there appeared to be tampering with the store's safe.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call police.
