HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The jury deciding the fate of a man accused of killing a former football standout at Castle High is heading into the Christmas weekend without a verdict.

Makuola Collins is charged with murder, attempted murder and firearms offenses. Prosecutors say he gunned down Joel Botelho, 27, outside Botelho's parents' home in Kaneohe in January, after a dispute at nearby Club Komomai.

Jurors received the case Wednesday. They will take Friday and next Monday off, and resume their deliberations on Tuesday.
