HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A Honolulu Police Department officer being held on drug and extortion charges is expected to be released Tuesday.

HPD Maj. Carlton Nishimura has been in federal custody for a month.

FBI agents arrested Nishimura at his Waianae home on Nov. 14 after finding about eight ounces of crystal meth in an ammunition tin with his name on it.

The 31-year HPD veteran will be released into the custody of his parents after they paid $25,000 of his $150,000 bond in cash.

Nishimura must wear an electronic monitoring bracelet and is not allowed to use a cell phone.
