HONOLULU(HawaiiNewsNow)- With Christmas right around the corner, Helping Hands Hawaii needs your help this holiday season. Friday Dec. 23 is your last chance to help these families in need.
The mission of Helping Hands Hawaii is to strengthen our community by enhancing the quality of people's lives through the delivery of goods and services to those in need.
Three hundred families were a part of the program this year, which is twice the amount as last year. So far, 280 families were adopted but 20 families are still waiting to be adopted.
"I think it's definitely a sign of the times, I think a lot of the families are really struggling and this year especially we see a high percentage of families that are homeless and they're living in a homeless shelter right now and some of the families are actually living in their van or car on the street", said Scott Morishige, Director of Human Services.
These families are in need and are asking for simple things such as food and basic necessities. This is your chance to brighten the holidays for these families.
Friday is the last day to make a donation. If you would like to adopt a family please contact (808) 440-3800 or visit them online at www.helpinghandshawaii.org for more information.
