UH paying former student $31K following dorm shower incident

MANOA (HawaiiNewsNow) - The University of Hawaii was ordered to pay a former student $31,000 after it failed to provide adequate dormitory shower security.

The victim, who was a 19-year-old freshman at the time, was reportedly showering in at a UH dormitory when an intruder tried to take photos of her with his cell phone.

Our media partners at the Star-Advertiser say that a circuit judge found UH negligent in not providing adequate security to ensure the safety of the dormitory residents from outside intruders.

The former student, who is now 23, graduated from UH and is a graduate student at a mainland university.
