MANOA (HawaiiNewsNow) - More than 1,200 college students moved into the next chapter of their lives Saturday.
The graduates of the University of Hawaii at Manoa received their degrees and certificates at the mid-year commencement ceremony at the Stan Sheriff Center.
More than 750 took home bachelor's degrees, while nearly 500 degrees received graduate degree honors.
U.H. alumnus and entrepreneur Henk Rogers was the featured speaker. Rogers is a computer game designer who helped intro a game most of the honorees are likely familiar with, but probably never played when it was originally released: Tetris. Rogers is also the founder of the Blue Planet Foundation.
UH also awarded an Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters to Shinichi Maehara, senior managing director of Okinawa Television, for his contributions in education.
