Traffic Alert: Ala Wai lane closures, broken traffic light

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The two left-hand lanes of Ala Wai Blvd. near Nahua St. are closed while Board of Water Supply crews fix a leaky valve.

Crews are working to replace approximately 10 feet of pipe that was originally installed in 1979.

Expect closures throughout the day and use alternate routes if possible.

***

The traffic light at Kamehameha Hwy. and Middle St. is malfunctioning.

Drivers should treat the intersection as a four-way stop until the light is fixed.

***

Looking ahead to the weekend, expect delays if you plan to drive near University of Hawaii at Manoa Saturday morning.

The university is holding its fall commencement at the Stan Sheriff Center starting at 8:30 a.m.

Traffic tends to back up at the H-1 and University off-ramps in both directions as friends and family arrive on campus.
