(HawaiiNewsNow) - The next Warrior football head coach and the interviews are starting to line up. Longtime Texas Assistant and Hawaii native Duane Akina will interview for the position.  The Punahou grad has been a staple in Austin for 11 years, and Texas Head Coach Mack Brown, who confirmed the interview said that while he hopes Akina stays in Austin, he would support the move.

A pair of awards for a pair of Warrior freshman, as running back Joey Iosefa gets an honorable mention on the College Football News All-Freshman team.  Punt returner Scott Harding makes the Yahoo Sports Freshman 2nd team.

Kanani Danielson has received the Lowe's Senior Class award for volleyball.  The award is given annually to a Senior who achieves success in the community, classroom, character and competition.  "CLASS" stands for "Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School"

HPU soccer star Chance Bukoski has been named first team all-american by the National Coaches Association for soccer.  Bukoski tallied 18 goals and 8 assists during HPU's run to their first PAC-West title.

One of the nation's top basketball tournaments, The Iolani Classic is set to tip off tonight. This years tourney features three of the nations top-50 squads.  Highlighted by number 4-ranked Montross Christian out of Maryland.

Michelle Wie, can't get birdie to drop on 18.  Still, finishes round with 5-under 67. Overall, tied for 6th in the tournament at at 1-under par through 2 rounds.
