Flash Flood Watch remains posted statewide

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The National Weather Service has extended a flash flood watch for the entire state until 6 a.m. Monday.

The Weather Service said an unstable atmosphere aloft will continue to bring the threat of locally heavy showers and thunderstorms to all islands. A surface trough near the islands also will act as a focus for low-level moisture.

Also:

  • A Winter Weather Advisory has been extended until 6 a.m. Monday for the summit areas of Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea above 11,000 feet.
  • A High Surf Advisory is in effect for east-facing shores of Kauai, Oahu, Molokai, Maui and the Big Island of Hawaii until 6 a.m. Monday.
  • A Small Craft Advisory for Hawaiian waters, except coastal waters near the Big Island of Hawaii, also until 6 a.m. Monday.

The Weather Service also issued a marine weather statement, warning boaters to remain alert for changing weather conditions, and to be prepared to take evasive action if a special marine warnings are issued.
