(HawaiiNewsNow) - Christmas is a "Season of Stress" for families struggling to pay the bills. That's where "Helping Hands Hawaii" comes in to "play Santa" to neighbors in need. Tannya Joaquin introduces us to a single mom wishing for some holiday magic for her keiki.
It's hard to imagine, but this beautiful view outside of her apartment takes Cheri-Lynn Kepoo back to a dark time when she wasted her life away doing ice on the beach, choosing drugs over her children.
She finally saw the light in 2006, when she was 9 months pregnant with her son Nathaniel. Cheri-Lynn has worked hard to rebuild her life and repair the rocky relationship with her kids.
It's tough, especially during the holidays. Cheri-Lynn wants to keep the magic of Christmas alive, especially for her 5 year old son.
Nathaniel loves to draw and would like crayons or other art supplies. On her 11 year old daughter Faith's wish list? Nail polish or Polly Pocket games and videos. The family could also use gift certificates for household goods or a holiday meal.
She reminds her kids that they're blessed to have a home and each other. We can help give them more.
To adopt her family or help out someone else this holiday season. Call "Helping Hands Hawaii" at 440-3800 or contact any First Hawaiian Bank to make a donation. You can make a donation anytime between now and Christmas Day.
