Early Evening Edition for Thursday, December 8 - Hawaii News Now - KGMB and KHNL

Early Evening Edition for Thursday, December 8, 2011

Tonight on Hawaii News Now at 5 and 5:30 ... a Hawaii college basketball coach is out of a job tonight after he, reportedly, sent a text message that contained a racial slur. Who he sent it to .. And what was the nature of the text -- all coming up tonight.

There are some familiar names emerging as those being interested in the football head coaching job at the University of Hawaii. Chris Tanaka runs them down for us.

A Hawaii couple says civil unions is not for them and they're challenging the state over being denied the right to marry. They say it's their constitutional right.  Tim Sakahara reports on this story for us.
And massive surf rolls into the state. Guy Hagi will have more on that when you join Teri Okita and me tonight on Hawaii News Now.

Aloha,
Shawn Ching
