Man who died after suffering injuries during assault in Hilo identified

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Honolulu Medical Examiner's office on Monday identified a man who died on Oahu after suffering injuries during an assault on the Big Island over the weekend.

The decedent was identified as Roy Williams, Jr., 44, of Mountain View. Autopsy results are pending.

Honolulu police say Williams was airlifted to a hospital on Oahu in critical condition Saturday after being injured in Hilo. He was pronounced dead Sunday night.

For now, HPD has classified the case as an unattended death.
