HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - For a third year in a row, ManoaDNA will host their annual "Boys and Their Toys" toy drive and concert benefiting the Oahu Marine Toys for Tots Foundation. The group, along with volunteers and members from the United States Marines Corps , will be collecting donations to benefit Hawaii families.
The boys of ManoaDNA know the value of toys during Christmas. "Some of my best memories as a kid were waking up early and opening presents," said ManoaDNA member Alex Kawakami "I'm really glad we get to do something that will give those same experiences to Hawaii families."
This year the group is hoping to surpass their previous donations. "Our first year, we did an impromptu drive and collected about three dozen toys." said member Nick Kawakami, "Last year, we donated a dozen huge cardboard boxes full of toys. This year, we hope to exceed that amount and really make a difference."
Along with the toy drive, ManoaDNA will be hosting a night full of entertainment. Na Hoku award winner Jon Yamasato & Herb Ohta Jr. will open the show, and other special musical guests including Brother Noland will also join in the festivities. ManoaDNA will also be giving away thousands of dollars in prize donations from IOLANI Sportswear, Hyatt Waikiki, Lulus Waikiki, JTB Hawaii, KoAloha, Oakley Hawaii and more! One lucky winner will win the grand prize: a trip for two on Hawaiian Air to Tokyo, Japan!
Of course, the main focus of the event is to collect donations to benefit the local Toys for Tots Foundation. Toy donations must be new & unwrapped, and can be delivered to Gordon Biersch in several ways: in-person at Gordon Biersch, through our collection site at IOLANI on Kona Street, or online through ManoaDNA.com.
