Surf's Up, Windy Weather, Myanmar Meeting

Surf's up this morning and so is a high surf advisory. The building northwest swell is a fitting backdrop for today's opening ceremonies for the Quicksilver in Memory of Eddie Aikau. We'll have team coverage starting at 4:30 this morning on Sunrise. Dan's tracking the waves and Ramsay will report live from the North Shore.

Windy weather in Los Angeles forced some Hawaii bound passengers to wait it out. Their American Airlines flight finally made it here after midnight, four hours later than planned. Powerful gusts clocked at 50 miles per hour knocked out power to Los Angeles International Airport and they're not backing off for a couple of days. Taizo will watch for more delays with our exclusive travel tracker.

Sparks are flying in Congress over a proposed tax increase by the New Year, but this isn't the same old party debate. Howard will break it down for us with his signature candor and segment, Crisis at a Glance.

We're also following an historic meeting in Myanmar between U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and opposition leader and Nobel Peace Laureate Aung San Suu Kyi.

Plus, Malika takes us to another cool school, Dan checks out "Do it Yourself" Christmas decorations, and see why one Santa may want to slim down so he doesn't get stuck in a compromising position again.

It's all coming up on Sunrise. Hope you can join us!

Aloha,

Tannya
