HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Hundreds of passengers on a Hawaiian Airlines flight finally arrived in Honolulu after a major flight delay on Sunday.

Passengers on Hawaiian flight 25 were supposed to get into Honolulu from Portland, Oregon around 2 p.m. Sunday, but instead arrived around 2 a.m. Monday.

According to officials, there was a mechanical problem with the jet in Portland and the busy travel weekend made it difficult to rebook passengers. Instead, travelers had to wait for the next available plane.

Hawaiian issued disgruntled passengers $300 travel credits and vouchers for food and hotels.

"Frustrated... because I want to see Hawaii. This is my chance. I booked Hawaiian flight because of the stop over. For that one glance, because I have friends who can tour me around so, " delayed passenger Nina Clark said. "I text them, they call me. I think it's impossible."

About 65 passengers were bumped from a Continental flight to Denver because not everyone could fit on a smaller replacement plane which was brought in.

Continental also reportedly worked to help affected passengers with vouchers and alternate travel arrangements.
