HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A prisoner who escaped with three other inmates from the Waiawa Correctional Facility five months ago was sentenced to an additional five years in prison Monday.

The judge ordered David Carvalho, Jr., 41, to begin serving the new term after he completes his original sentence for burglary, forgery and theft. He reportedly was looking at a March 2012 release date for the prior case, but decided to bolt from the minimum-security prison instead.

Authorities launched an island-wide manhunt when the inmates were discovered missing from their housing unit. All four were eventually caught.

George Thomas and Jordan White were also sentenced to five years for the escape, but are being allowed to serve that at the same time as their other prison terms.

Sentencing for the fourth escapee, Elijah Keakahumoku, is scheduled for Tuesday.
