Arson fire forces Kalihi shoppers to evacuate

KALIHI (HawaiiNewsNow) - Dozens of shoppers in Kalihi received quite a scare on Saturday night after someone started a fire inside a store. Investigators said a fire was intentionally set in Savers on Dillingham Boulevard. According to officials, a rack of clothes in the kids section burned. As dozens of customers ran outside, employees used fire extinguishers to put out the flames.

"I heard people start like screaming. I thought someone had fallen down, but then I heard somebody yell 'fire' and I looked over and the flames were shooting up to the ceiling," said shopper Vicky Perguson.

The fire caused several hundred dollars worth of damage to used clothing. Investigators will notify HPD.
