HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - During the past week, local gas prices slipped in most areas for the fifth straight week, according to the AAA Hawaii Weekend Gas Watch.
Thursday the statewide average for regular unleaded is $4.15 a gallon, a penny less than a week ago.
Honolulu's average price declined over the past week by two cents from $4.02 to $4 a gallon, eight cents less than a month ago and 62 cents higher than this time last year.
In Hilo, the average gas price is $4.31 a gallon, two cents more than last week, a nickel less than last month and 79 cents higher than this time last year.
Wailuku's average is $4.42 a gallon, one cent less than last week, two cents less than last month and 45 cents higher than on this date last year.
Hawaii's state average continues to lead the nation today at $4.15 a gallon followed by Alaska at $4.04 and California at $3.79. The current national retail average price for a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline is $3.39, four cents less than last week.
