HONOLULU (AP) - A Honolulu policeman awaiting trial for extortion has been charged with possessing methamphetamine.
The FBI filed a criminal complaint against Carlton Nishimura at U.S. District Court in Honolulu on Tuesday, alleging he possessed with the intent to distribute at least 50 grams - about 1.8 ounces - the drug.
Agents arrested Nishimura at his Waianae home Monday night. The agency says Nishimura had five clear plastic bags containing a white crystalline substance and one baggie containing residue at his home. An agent's field test on one of the bags turned up positive for meth.
Nishimura also allegedly had three digital scales and numerous small clear baggies.
A federal grand jury earlier this year indicted Nishimura with extortion. He has pleaded not guilty and is awaiting trial.
