HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Motorcades have been spotted coming down the H-1 freeway Monday morning.
The H-1 at the Ward Avenue over pass closed at about 9 a.m., but reopened less than 15 minutes later.
According to City & County officials, APEC dignitaries may be using Nimitz Highway toward the Honolulu International Airport through Kalihi.
Drivers should be aware that from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., major delays are expected on the roads in town and in the airport area.
APEC dignitaries include First Lady Michelle Obama, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and officials from China, Canada, Vietnam, Indonesia and Papua New Guinea.
Traffic restrictions are starting to ease on surface streets. Some concrete barriers in Waikiki have also been taken away.
According to the Department of Emergency Management, Kapiolani Boulevard morning contraflow will be in effect and all bus routes will be back to normal operations.
Public parking at Magic Island and near Kapiolani Park will remain off limits until Tuesday.
