HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The City and County of Honolulu urges commuters to plan ahead on Monday and leave as early as possible.
Road closures in the Ewa-bound direction are expected to go into effect between 8 and 10 a.m. when certain dignitaries travel from Waikiki to the Honolulu International Airport area.
Those dignitaries include First Lady Michelle Obama, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and officials from China, Canada, Vietnam, Indonesia and Papua New Guinea.
Traffic restrictions are starting to ease on surface streets. Some concrete barriers in Waikiki have also been taken away.
