Wahine ink prep volleyball star

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - University of Hawai'i women's volleyball head coach Dave Shoji announced the signing of Shar "Tai" Manu-Olevao to a national letter of intent. Manu-Olevao committed during the early signing period.

Manu-Olevao, a six-foot outside hitter, is currently in her senior year at Punahou School in Honolulu. She was named to the 2010 Hawai'i All-State First Team is a junior, and this season guided Punahou to the Division I state title. She was also named to the all-tournament team.

"Tai is a physical player with good size," said Shoji. "She has all the qualities you look for in an outside hitter with a lot of room for growth."

"I've always wanted to play for the Rainbow Wahine," said Manu-Olevao, who also plays for the Asics Rainbows Volleyball Club. "UH is such a good program with talented players, and I'm really looking forward to fitting in and being part of the team."
