APEC security: Suspicious boat turns out to be false alarm at Pier 38

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Since so many world leaders are coming to Oahu, security may be the tightest it's ever been.

Law enforcements had their first test overnight.

The Coast Guard, Honolulu Police Department and federal agents swarmed to reports of a suspicious boat at Pier 38 near the Young Brothers loading dock.

The incident turned out to be a false alarm due to miscommunication with the "Katherine Y" as it come into port.

Authorities say they are not taking any potential threats lightly.

Some restrictions to waterways go into effect on Thursday and Friday.
