HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – The APEC conference has residents and security officials on high-alert this week, but don't let those low-flying F-22 fighter jets alarm you; Hawaii isn't under attack.
The Hawaii Air National Guard announced Tuesday that four F-22 aircraft from the 199th Fighter Squadron will participate in a flyover in support of the Veterans Day ceremony at Punchbowl on Friday.
The jets will be flying a route beginning in east Oahu near Kahala, heading over Punchbowl Crater and finishing along the Koolau mountain range. Officials say the flyover will occur at around 11 a.m. and that residents should not be alarmed at the considerable amount of noise as expected as a result.
The Veterans Day flyover has been a tradition at Punchbowl for decades, though this will be the first time the Hawaii Air National Guard will be supporting it with F-22 aircraft.
