HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Honolulu police arrested eight Occupy Honolulu protestors at Thomas Square on Saturday night while other demonstrators watched from the sidewalk. The group stayed past 10 p.m. when the park closes. Officers said the demonstrators would have been issued citations if they had provided identification.
The protestors said they were willing to do civil disobedience and try to invoke their first amendment rights to peacefully assemble and petition the government for redress of their grievances. The demonstrators were released on bail after a few hours at HPD's main cellblock. They have court dates next month.
