HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - On Sunday, November 6, halau hula Na Pualei O Likolehua will present Na Lani 'Eha, an annual celebration honoring the royal siblings Kalakaua, Lili'uokalani, Likelike and Leleiohoku. In its 14th year, the halau puts on this unique presentation to honor these beloved ali'i and perpetuate their love of Hawaiian poetry, music and hula.
This year, Halau Na Pualei O Likolehua will partner with Halau I Ka Wekiu (Kumu Hula Michael Casupang and Karl Veto Baker), Halau I Ke 'A'ali'i Ku Makani (Kumu Hula Manu Boyd) and Halau Ka Pa Hula O Ka Lei Lehua (Kumu Hula Snowbird Bento).
The lively presentation by the four halau mimics the friendly rivalry between the four ali'i siblings in putting forth the best oli (chant), hula (dance) and mele (song).
The admission price for Na Lani 'Eha is $25. The performance will be held at Roosevelt Theater, and doors will open at 2:30 p.m. with the performance starting at 3 p.m.
