Job Link Now: Hawaii Now KGMB/KHNL

Posted: Updated:

(HawaiiNewsNow) - On today's Job Link we're staying in house right here on Hawaii News Now, for some opportunities to join our team and our fearless leader is here to tell us more. Rick, how are you, sir?

The thing that's so great about our place is the people. You know that, and that's the fun I think we have in this job. And as it turns out, now we're nearly two years old. We're going to expand our sales operation, and with all due respect to all the creativity that goes on here on Sunrise, I think one of the most creative, fun, challenging jobs we have to offer somebody is in the world of sales as we begin to really build and grow. So we are looking for some great salespeople.

Describe the characteristic a person in the sales department has to have or should have.

They need to be competitive and good communicators. They obviously have to do well with people, and they just have to have a desire to grow and learn because the job continues to evolve. As we know, we're no longer just stand alone telephones stations. We're pushing everything through on three screens with mobile, on line, evolving more as a multi-media company. So I'd say it's got to be fun people, hip, got to like going out there to meet people.

So they'll be selling television for KHNL and KGMB, correct?

Yes. They will be assigned to a team, but we're just looking for a couple. We figure if we did this, you never know who's watching. They've got to be special. Hoping to find that.

You're talking about being driven and passion.   What kind of personality succeeds in this type of business?

We are not looking for introverts. You got to be outgoing. It's a high touch business. There's a lot of communication with our clients, expectations. We look for people who can establish trust.

We prefer to have some kind of proven track record in sales. But as we used to say back in the old days when I was blowing a whistle for a living, if you find the athlete you can teach them the game. If we can find some bright people who are ambitious, want to learn, we'd be willing to take a look at that.
