Hiker dies atop Kauai 'Sleeping Giant'

WAILUA, Kauai (HawaiiNewsNow) - A 59 year-old Lawai man died after apparently suffering a heart attack or stroke while hiking atop Nonou mountain, also known as Sleeping Giant.

A Kauai County spokesperson said a fire helicopter was able to reach the hiker. Rescue crews performed CPR and then flew the man to a waiting ambulance at Wailua Houselots Park, but the man could not be revived.

The man's name has not yet been released.
