HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The state will close Diamond Head crater from 6 p.m. Friday, November 11 through 6 a.m. Monday, November 14 due to security measures for APEC.
The Hawaii National Guard will be utilizing portions of the interior of Diamond Head crater for training and staging equipment in support of the conference.
"We apologize in advance for any inconvenience this may cause those who had planned to hike the Diamond Head trail during that weekend. However, the Hawaii National Guard requires a secure area near Waikiki in order to prepare for it's mission in support of civil authorities", said Maj. Gen. Darryll D.M. Wong, State Adjutant General.
