HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - According to the AAA Hawaii, local gas prices declined in some areas and ticked up in another for the second consecutive week.
The statewide average for regular unleaded is $4.19 a gallon, three cents less than a week ago.
Honolulu's average price declined over the past week by two cents from $4.08 to $4.06 a gallon. Honolulu's price is seven cents less than a month ago and 69 cents higher than this time last year.
In Hilo, the average gas price is $4.34 a gallon, up a penny from last week, three cents more than last month and 78 cents higher than this time last year. Wailuku's average is $4.43 a gallon, unchanged from last week, the same price as last month and 55 cents higher than on this date last year.
Hawaii's state average continues to lead the nation today at $4.19 a gallon followed by Alaska at $4.03 and California at $3.84. The current national retail average price for a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline is $3.44.
