KEAAU (HawaiiNewsNow) - An attempted murder suspect on the Big Island made his first court appearance Monday.
Police say late Saturday night 18-year-old Seferin Tilipau broke into a woman's home in Keaau and stabbed her in the head numerous times with a pair of scissors he found outside.
Court documents say the Keaau man sat on top of his 69-year-old victim and using his bare hands stretched her mouth open until her cheeks tore on both sides.
Police say they spotted Tilipau casually walking away from the home.
Tilipau is charged with attempted murder, burglary and assault.
At last check, the victim was in stable condition at the Hilo Medical Center.
