Surveillance cameras ready for APEC

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Some say its big brother, others a security must.

The Honolulu Police Department released a list of the new cameras that will be used for video monitoring as a way to prevent and deter crime, and ensure the safety of APEC participants and residents.

The 30 cameras can be found from Waikiki to Koolina and will be monitored by police starting in late October until the APEC Summit in mid November.

The new cameras will be used as traffic cameras once the conference is done.
