Trash pickup delayed in East Oahu

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The City & County of Honolulu says it was unable to pickup both trash and mixed recyclable carts this past Friday and Saturday in various parts of Oahu.

The City asks residents whose gray carts (trash) were not collected from Kahala to the Hawaii Kai area to leave their carts curbside to be picked up on Monday.

Residents of Newtown, Aiea, Halawa, Iroquis Point and Ewa Beach whose blue carts were not picked up are asked to hold onto them until the next collection date in two weeks.

The City's Department of Environmental Services says mechanical problems with a number of its trucks caused the delay in pickup.
