Maui brush fire scorches 4 acres near Maalaea

MAALAEA, Maui (HawaiiNewsNow) -A brush fire burned four acres and forced officials to shut down Honoapiilani Highway Saturday.

According to fire officials, the blaze was reported at 1:32 p.m. in an area of dry brush that has a history of large brush fires. About 17 firefighters battled the flames, with assistance from the Maui County Fire Department helicopter.

Authorities said there were no injuries and no structures were threatened by the blaze. A fire investigator is trying to determine the cause.
