Listeria concerns prompt lettuce recall

HONOLULLU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A Pittsburgh-based grocery-store chain is recalling shredded iceberg following a routine test, according to the Wall Street Journal.

The Food and Drug Administration detected listeria in a sample of lettuce sold by Giant Eagle Inc.

The company says most of the recalled lettuce was sold in eight-ounce packages of River Ranch Fresh Foods with a use-by date of Oct. 14. Some of the lettuce was also used as an ingredient in the Giant Eagle sandwiches.

It is unknown at this time how much product is included in the recall or where it was sold.

No illnesses connected to the lettuce recall have been reported.
