OSAKA, Japan (HawaiiNewsNow) - A Hawaiian Airlines passenger plane headed for Honolulu had a close encounter with incoming jet at the Kansai Airport near Osaka, Japan.
Hawaiian Airlines flight 450 taxied into a runway Tuesday night as a cargo jet was four miles out and about 2.5 minutes away from landing.
The All Nippon Airways cargo plane reportedly had to abort its landing.
"We're working very closely with Japan aviation authorities to investigate the facts and find out exactly how this happened," Hawaiian Airlines spokesperson Keoni Wagner said. "We haven't heard the tapes yet, but a Japan safety board investigator has reportedly indicated that there may have been miscommunication between the tower and the Hawaiian cockpit."
The Hawaiian flight took off shortly after the incident and landed in Honolulu Wednesday morning.
