Coming Up on Hawaii News Now Tuesday

Lingle is in. Former Governor Linda Lingle today announced her run for the U.S. Senate. Tonight, Jim Mendoza will have more on that. Lingle will face John Carroll in the Republican Primary and if she wins that, she'll move on to take on either Mazie Hirono or Ed Case. So, what are her chances of winning the seat being vacated by Daniel Akaka? We'll put that question to Richard Borreca of the Honolulu Star-Advertiser at 5:30.

Low altitude may have played a role in the ditching of plane off of Hilo earlier this week. Apparently, the plane was flying from California to Hawaii at a somewhat lower than normal altitude and that may eaten up it's fuel payload. The new details tonight at 5.

Shortage of crushed rocks delays the sprucing up of emergency truck ramp on the Pali. State transportation officials are saying they need more rocks to finish project which is just after the hairpin turn on the Pali Highway. When they hope to get that done, tonight at 5.

And Guy Hagi will have the latest on where you'll find the best surf over the next few days.

These are just some of the reasons to join Stephanie Lum and me tonight for Hawaii News Now at 5 and 5:30 on KGMB and KHNL.

Aloha,

Shawn Ching
