Attempted murder suspect arrested in Likelike crash

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Honolulu police arrested a man for allegedly driving a stolen car the wrong way on the Likelike Highway that crashed into a police car in July.

According to officials, 35-year-old Tiolu Lono was in custody at the Halawa Correctional Facility. He was then taken to the Pearl City station and booked on suspicion of first-degree attempted murder.

The suspect was allegedly driving a stolen Lexus when he crashed into the vehicle on July 28 during the early morning hours near Wilson Street, just past Kalihi Valley homes.

Police say he fled the scene.

Lono was released pending further investigation.
