Pilot rescued after crash landing released from hospital

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The pilot who was rescued off the coast of the Big Island following a crash landing has been released from the hospital.

Charles Brian Mellor was forced to land in the ocean after his plane ran out of fuel on Friday.

The 65 year old Spain native was flying from California to Hilo.

The Coast Guard retrieved him from the wing of the plane.

Mellor was not seriously injured.
