Aloha! Here's what were working on right now for Hawaii News Now at 5 and 5:30.
Before I got into work today, a couple of surfers came up to me and said -- eh, surf's up! It sure is. Ben Gutierrez is keeping a close eye on the latest south shore swell now rolling in and will have latest for us tonight.
Do you know who Ed Teixeira is? You may recognize his face, if not the name. He's the vice-director of the Hawaii state Civil Defense and has been the voice of calm during stormy times. Well, today, we were the first to report that he's stepping down. We have more on this story at 5.
And security will be tightened in a few weeks in and around Honolulu for the APEC summit. Tonight, Teri Okita, has more on security measures for Honolulu Harbor.
And what do you think of the latest iPhone offering from Apple? A lot of us (me included) had been waiting for the -- now mythical -- "iPhone 5." Apparently, Apple's iPhone 4S disappointed a few folks. We'll have more on that story, too.
That's it for now.
Stephanie Lum and I will see you tonight at 5 on KGMB and KHNL and at 5:30 on KHNL.
