In this economy we're taking the position of the best defense is a strong offense, so we want to expand. We're looking for all those who would be interested in getting into real estate as well as those interested in get into real estate as well as licensed realtors. We're looking for a local atmosphere, and taking their career from a to b.
Can you give us a number of how many you're looking for?
We'd like to hire 5 strong solid agents at this point, and then take it from there.
Looking at the applications for new realtors, there's a mentorship program in there, right?
With all our new realtors, of course, not knowing anything about real estate, they're excited about the business, but really how do you do it. So we have a training program, and also a mentorship program with experienced agents. The experienced agents walk these new agents through the transaction process, help them with prospects.
It's an exciting new career but at the same time there's a lot of pressure, there's a lot of things that go into it. How long does it usually take before someone is up and running and able to do this on their own?
It really depends on the individual. We're looking for someone that's internally motivated, someone that has the drive and desire to do it. If you have someone like that, it could take 23 months to be able to get comfortable with things, and then upwards of that.
As far as pay, this is all commission based?
That's right.
You said there's also an advantage that your company would have as far as listing something.
Well, what happens is buyers' agents represent buyers, clients on the seller's side represent the sellers, so in our office we work with a cohesive spirit of communication and cooperation. We have a local company, and we enjoy the family atmosphere which we produce there.
