RUSTON, LA (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Hawaii Warriors defeated the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs, 44-26. With the win, Hawaii moves to 3-2 (1-0 in the WAC).
Warriors quarterback Bryant Moniz put on another stellar performance completing 34 of 55 passes for 410 yards and four touchdowns.
For the second straight week, Royce Pollard had another fantastic game, catching 10 passes for 216 yards and three scores.
The Warriors got of to a good start in the first quarter with a 13 yard touchdown pass from Moniz to Pollard.
With a 1:42 remaining in the first quarter, Moniz hooked up with Pollard for a 53 yard deep strike. On the next play, Moniz capped off the two-play drive with another quick touchdown throw to Pollard.
Moniz and Pollard kept the chemistry going in the second quarter with a nine yard touchdown strike that put the Warriors up 20-6 at halftime.
After the break, Louisiana Tech came out firing with a three-play drive that ended with a seven yard touchdown pass from Nick Isham to Taulib Ikharo.
On their ensuing Hawaii possession, the Warriors picked up right where they left off. Billy Ray Stutzmann caught his second touchdown of the season on a six yard throw from Moniz.
The Warriors defense also had a memorable night racking up two interceptions and one fumble.
With eight minutes left in the third, Warriors safety Richard Torres intercepted Isham's throw and ran it back 49 yards for the score.
On the following kickoff, Warriors cornerback Tank Hopkins recovered a Bulldogs fumble and returned it to the end zone to widen Hawaii's lead to 41-13.
Joey Iosefa added to Hawaii's 494 offensive yards with 99 rushing yards on 16 carries.
The Warriors are off next week and won't be back in action until their road match-up with San Jose State on Friday, Oct. 14.
