Breaking this morning on Sunrise... A U.S. counterterrorism official says American forces targeted al-Qaida cleric Anwar al-Awlaki's convoy with a drone and jet attack and believe he's been killed. The U.S.-born cleric known for fiery anti-American rhetoric has been suspected of ties to the Fort Hood attack and the attempted Christmas Day airliner bombing in 2009. Read More Here
Weather should be mostly clear and dry for today, but some remnant cloud cover and moisture from a dissipating cold front could reach Kauai. There's a chance some of those showers could get caught up in the tradewinds to dampen the weekend a bit, but it shouldn't be a washout.
Plus, Typhoon Nesat continues to carve a path of destruction through Asia. We have the latest dramatic video from China where high winds and rain caused significant problems. Dan Cooke's tracking the storm and will give us weather updates every ten minutes on Sunrise.
We're also monitoring another situation very closely this morning. Crews will resume their search for a stranded paraglider in the Pacific Palisades area. Ramsay Wharton is at the scene and will be bring us live reports all morning.
Today we'll be saying goodbye to a fallen hero. Funeral services will be held for Honolulu Police Officer Eric Fontes.
And a Traffic Alert you'll want to watch out for... Two lanes of Alapai Street between Beretania and King will be closed starting at 8:30 a.m.
