Kamehameha Schools warns of potential phone scam

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Kamehameha Schools says someone is posing as a KS employee or calling on behalf of its admissions department and asking that residents pay for the chance to apply to KS' campuses.

Kamehameha Schools says it believes it is someone phishing for bank account information or falsely soliciting services for a fee paid up front by check or credit card number.

The male caller is asking families if they're interested in applying to KS and for a fee could help with the process. Kamehameha says it does not charge a fee to apply.

KS has not retained the service of a third party to help with admissions to its campuses and any claim made otherwise is false.

Applications are still being accepted for K-12 at all three KS campuses on Hawai'i, Maui and O'ahu.

Deadline to apply is Friday, September 30.
